Our process links the key disciplines of CAD, CAM, CNC machining and finishing.

CAD is primarily used for appearance models. We can take any form of input from sketch data to entire engineering database assemblies and create the geometry needed for an appearance model. We can also "design in" the level of functionality that your model requires.

CAM is the process where the machine tool path is programmed. We use a variety of CAM software to accomplish this including SmartCam, Unigraphics, and MasterCam. The approach we use is tailored to machine the part in the fastest method available. This method utilizes a series of tool path passes with quick cleanup routines to yield a part that matches your database as closely as possible. Shortcuts are not allowed at RPM Custom CNC Machining.

CNC machining is the process where the parts are actually cut from your choice of engineering plastics and modeling materials. We machine parts from ABS, polycarbonate, acrylic, nylon, high-density polypropylene, Ultem, and Ren. We use 3-axis vertical machining centers with a large range of tool sizes that yield the most accurate part possible. All of our equipment is set up similarly so that each programmer has several machines at their disposal. This allows for the highest possible throughput and the quickest turnarounds possible.

Finishing encompasses everything from light cleanup of machined plastics
to a full color and texture match on an appearance model. We can match
any color and Mold Tech texture to represent the finished product to a
T.
Pad Printing
With our six color pad printer, we can apply logos and graphics from your
artwork, bringing a durable extra level of detail to appearance models.
